Bay Area SpeechWorks was founded by
Leslie Brodbeck-Whitaker, MA, CCC-SLP. Leslie is a nationally certified and
California licensed speech language pathologist who has been in
practice since 1995.
Leslie graduated with a BA in English
Literature from Florida State University and an MA in Communication
Disorders from Appalachian State University in North Carolina. She
completed her internship at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital
focusing on traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and vocal rehabilitation.
She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year at The Deveroux Foundation
in Santa Barbara where she worked with children who had severe multiple
learning and behavioral issues including autism, Down's Syndrome, and
schizophrenia.
Leslie currently sees private clients
in her Mill Valley office. She also contracts and consults with public
and private schools, governmental agencies such as Golden Gate Regional
Center and Easter Seals, parent advocates, pediatricians,
orthodontists, and families who are homeschooling. Leslie has
supervised student clinicians from San Francisco State University and
clinical fellows. Leslie lives in Marin and worked for the Marin County
Office of Education from 1998-2002 in elementary and high schools
before going into private practice.
