Parent Education and Support

While evaluation and treatment for your child by a professional occupational therapist is a key element in helping your child find his/her way, equally important is your own knowledge about challenges your child may face.
Through our occupational therapy program, we offer individual parent consultation and education, as well as Office Hours and Parent Education Groups.
Parent Education Groups
Each series consists of four 1-hour sessions with content geared to meet the level of knowledge of participants. Appropriate for all parents, whether or not your child is currently participating in OT.
The Basics:
Led by Corry, a licensed occupational therapist, this series will provide you with information necessary to expand on your child's individual treatments. Join us to learn more about :
- Occupational Therapy and what an OT session looks like.
- The Eight Senses and how they effect my child's behavior.
- Self-regulation, self-awareness and mindfulness.
- Tools to help my child.
Contact Corry for more information.
Mindfulness and Yoga: Beyond the mat
This series is a great addition to the "Basics" Parent Series. Bringing mindfulness into your home is a proven way to ease family challenges. In addition, taking care of yourself is an important, yet often overlooked, part of taking care of your child!.
.
Each session will include a mediation practice in addition to discussion about ways to incorporate mindfulness with your entire family.

TESTIMONIAL:
Being parents of a special needs child can be isolating and daunting, but Corry approaches it all with so much empathy and kindness. She has taught my husband and I many tools to better support our son and understand his needs. Not only has our son learned a lot from Corry, so have we, as his parents.
